About Brayden Hanks, AMFT | Male Therapist in Nashville
ASSOCIATE MARRIAGE AND FAMILY THERAPIST
Helping men in Nashville with anxiety, burnout, recovery, and relationship stress
For men who appear steady on the outside — but feel the pressure building underneath.
Many of the men I work with are responsible, capable, and used to handling things on their own. From the outside, life may look stable: careers are moving forward, relationships appear intact, and responsibilities are being met.
But internally, something feels off.
There may be persistent anxiety, burnout from carrying too much for too long, tension in relationships, or patterns that continue repeating despite genuine effort to change them. Often the people who come to therapy are thoughtful and self-aware — they simply don’t want to keep navigating these challenges alone.
Therapy becomes a place to slow things down and understand what is actually happening beneath the surface. In our work together we identify the patterns shaping emotional responses, communication, and decision-making, and develop steadier ways of responding to stress, conflict, and uncertainty.
My approach to therapy is direct, collaborative, and structured. Sessions draw from evidence-based therapy models while also considering how stress affects the body and nervous system. The goal is not just insight, but meaningful change that carries into everyday life.

a little about me
Before becoming a therapist, I spent nearly a decade working in healthcare — including working in the trenches of Cardiovascular Surgery, Burn, and COVID intensive care units. During that time I worked alongside physicians, nurses, and other professionals responsible for incredibly high-pressure decisions and outcomes.
What I noticed was that many capable and successful people were quietly carrying significant internal pressure. They were showing up for everyone around them while trying to manage stress, trauma, and responsibility largely on their own. That experience played a large role in shaping my decision to pursue therapy and the type of work I do today.
I grew up in Memphis, Tennessee and moved to Nashville in early 2020. I’m a Tennessean through and through and have enjoyed building both my professional work and personal church community here.
Outside of therapy, I enjoy traveling with my wife, especially ski trips and exploring national parks. I grew up racing dirt bikes and still enjoy getting out on a mountain bike when I can. I also appreciate simple things — good coffee, game nights, and intentional time, gathering around a fire with friends and family.
If you're considering therapy, the best place to begin is a brief consultation where we can talk about what’s bringing you in and whether it feels like a good fit.
